The students participated in several learning stations including lake health, invasive species and discussions with the coast guard. Please see the link for TOMWC video. Treasure Lake Charlevoix Poker Run 2016 Theme: Clean and Safe Boating Let’s have some fun on the lake and Give Our Lake Some TLC Our First Ever Fun Poker Run Event Will Be Held on Friday August 12! Between 11 am and 4 pm participants will spend a leisurely day on the lake traveling to 5 of 8 card pick up locations to collect the 5 cards needed for a poker hand. Following the boating event we will have a reception at Sommerset Pointe Yacht Club (SPYC). All hands must be turned in at SPYC before 5 pm. Appetizers will be provided and a cash bar available. Sponsors have donated items that will be sold via silent or live auction. Proceeds go towards projects that protect Lake Charlevoix. Inland Seas School Ship is docking at Sommerset Pointe August 19 and 20. LCA Members can now register here. The ship will be back again this summer for three educational sailing tours, which we are pleased to announce are on a Fridayand Saturday this year. Friday August 19 from 5-8 pm and Saturday August 20from 6-9 pm participants will engage in hands-on water quality testing and participate in discussions with School Ship Employees and local experts about how we can all work together to protect our lake. Saturday August 20 from 10am-4pm our special sail will be part of a much larger regional event to study micro-plastics in our lakes. The summer of 2015 levels are up about 5″ above the long term averages, and about 10″ higher than last summer. The forecast is for the usual dropping of levels starting in August.
